One Perfect Day | Un día perfecto
One Perfect Day | Un día perfecto is a telenovela-inspired play. Alba and Evan think they’re getting the picture perfect Colombian wedding but when the groom is swapped with an evil twin by a long lost sister bent on revenge, the special day falls into chaos, testing the family’s strength.
It is a bilingual play (English and Spanish) and features a majority Latine cast.
Development History
One Perfect Day was developed as part of Factory Theatre's Playwriting Unit (The Foundry) in 2019/2020.
The play was then reimagined as a TikTok telenovela directed by Claren Grosz and starring me as… everyone for Aluna Theatre's 2021 Digital CAMINOS Festival.
I then produced a week-long workshop and public presentation of the play in June 2022 directed by Mariló Nuñez. I then completed a new draft at the Stratford Festival as part of their Playwrights Retreat in the fall of 2022. One Perfect Day was most recently part of Aluna Theatre's 2023 CAMINOS Festival as a workshop presentation exploring a film/theatre hybrid.
In 2023, One Perfect Day was a shortlist nominee for the RBC Emerging Playwright Award.
